The turbine converts steam energy into motion

Steam enters the turbine, which consists of several parts. The turbine rotor rotates at a speed of 3000 revolutions per minute. It is firmly connected to the generator.

The individual parts of the turbine vary in size.

The blades in the outer sections are over 1 metre long.

The turbine rotor can be over 30 metres long and must be balanced to the nearest millimetre.
