The reactor
The reactor is, in fact, a giant pressure cooker. In response to high pressure, the water inside reaches temperatures of up to 320 °C. When the reactor is shut down, the first step is to carefully remove the lid – that is, to dismantle and transport the so-called upper block. This has a height 8.2 metres.
